Is your bed partner at risk for sleep issues?

Is your bed partner at risk for sleep issues?

According to the National Sleep Foundation, approximately 37 million Americans are affected by disruptive snoring on a regular basis. Loud snoring can cause disruptions not only to the person who snores but also to their bed partner.

When we sleep, our muscles relax, allowing us to fall into a peaceful slumber. However, this means the muscles in our throat also relax, letting our tongue slip a small distance backward. When this happens, our airway passages may become obstructed, resulting in the loud, disruptive snoring that can leave us tossing and turning every night.

Sometimes, snoring can be an indicator of a serious underlying issue, such as obstructive sleep apnea. If your bed partner is snoring loudly on a consistent basis, it could be time to schedule a consultation with one of our certified sleep specialists.
