Available Therapies to Treat Sleep Disorders
Living with a sleep disorder can feel like fighting a losing battle. Patients often
think that they will never be able to sleep well again. Others
may suffer from the medical conditions and chronic diseases that are linked to or caused by sleep disorders.
Research continues to shed new light on the process
of sleep and new therapies
are constantly being developed. Fusion Sleep offers a full range of effective treatment
options which can prevent as well as reverse potentially life threatening conditions.
Medications
Effective treatment for many sleep disorders involves the use of medications. Recent advances
in pharmaceutical research have led to discovery of therapies for
Restless Legs Syndrome, Insomnia and Narcolepsy. Meidcations are also used in combnation with
other therapies, for example in the treatment of Sleep Apnea.
Every year a number of new drugs are developed and approved as therapies for sleep disorders. Sleep medicine is one of the fastest growing fields within
pharmacology development. Our participation
in cutting edge research allows Fusion
Sleep clinicians to stay on the forefront of this rapidly
developing field and bring medication technology to the bedside as it is
developed.
Positive Airway Pressure Therapy (PAP)
PAP therapy is the most common and most effective way to treat Obstructive Sleep

The Fusion Sleep Center offers full service programs for PAP therapy, including

Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT)
Oral Appliance Therapy is an alternative therapy to treat Sleep Disordered Breathing, including Obstructive
Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Snoring.
An appliance, somewhat similar to a sports guard or orthodontic retainer, is worn in the mouth at night to reposition the jaw forward,
preventing the upper airway from collapsing during sleep.
The Fusion Sleep Center offers Oral Appliance Therapy and comprehensive follow-up
through its
Dental Sleep Medicine Program.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
These methods teach patients how to change actions or thoughts that impede the natural
sleep process. Patients learn how to regain control of their sleep by developing
sleep promoting behaviours and thoughts.
At Fusion Sleep, we work with psychiatrists and psychologists to provide cognitive
behavioral therapies, as well as with multiple pharmaceutical companies to provide
the latest in medical therapies.
