Pranathi Kondapaneni, MD, MPH, D.ABPN
Sleep Medicine Fellow
Dr Kondapaneni (“Dr K”) began her fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the
Fusion Sleep Center in August of 2007. She received her undergraduate
and graduate education at George Washington University (GWU) in
Washington, D.C.
During her seven year tenure at GWU, she completed
two bachelor’s degrees (Economics and Biology), a medical degree (MD)
and a Masters in Public Health (MPH). Following this, Dr Kondapaneni
completed her neurology residency at University of Texas Health
Sciences Center in San Antonio Texas. After completing her residency,
she took a sabbatical in India, where she worked with local physicians
and patients. This experience allowed her to gain experiences with
diseases that are not commonly encountered in the United States.
Following this, Dr Kondapaneni went on to complete a clinical
neurophysiology fellowship with a concentration in epilepsy at Emory
University. Dr Kondapaneni is a board certified neurologist (American
Board of Neurology and Psychiatry).
Autobiography
Sleep was considered a natural state of rest without any significance.
However, in the last few decades, we are learning that sleep is a
complex process that affects the overall health of patients in
countless ways. The fact that sleep is a young and ever-expanding
field makes it an exciting area to be explored. From backpacking
through Eastern Europe to exploring ancient temples in India,
exploration of the unknown has always been one my passions.
At the Fusion Sleep Center, I hope to learn about sleep not only as an
intellectual pursuit, but as an avenue to help the most important
person: The Patient.
From initiating community health intervention
programs in medical school to working in indigent clinics, patient
advocacy has always been my primary aim in medicine. Throughout my
medical experience, I have seen sleep disorders wreak havoc on
individuals. The presentations are as varied as a patient with
worsening seizures due to sleep deprivation to a college kid who
cannot get through school because he keeps falling asleep.
My goal at fusion sleep is to help you by diagnosing, treating and
educating you regarding sleep disorders as part of the Fusion sleep
team. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
Sincerely yours
Pranathi Kondapaneni MD, MPH
