Sheri Katz, DDS, D.ABDSM
Director of Dental Sleep Medicine
Dr. Katz directs the dental sleep medicine and oral appliance program at the Fusion
Sleep Center. She is nationally recognized as one of the leaders in this field.
Dr. Katz received her dental degree from Emory University School of Dentistry. She
is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Katz has
practiced dentistry since 1978 in Decatur, Georgia and has developed a
specialization in dental sleep medicine.
Currently, she is on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dental Sleep
Medicine. In addition, she is a member of the Education and Curriculum Committee
and holds membership with the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental
Association. Dr. Katz is board certified in Dental
Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM).
Dr. Katz is regularly an invited national speaker at various conferences on sleep.

Autobiography
My favorite part of dental practice has always been in my relationship with my patients.
I have known many of them for my entire career. We have shared a good bit of our
lives with each other and as they and I have gotten older, it has been really exciting
to learn about ways to help with parts of their lives that seemed incurable. Many
patients confided that they were unable to sleep with their spouses because of snoring
problems, and some had even developed some of the chronic diseases that have been
linked to sleep disorders. It was rewarding to learn that poor sleep was being discovered
as the basis for so many of their problems and I could play a major role in putting
health and joy back into their lives through dental sleep medicine.
In collaboration with Dr. Donald Bliwise, Director of the Emory Sleep Disorders
Center in Atlanta, I developed a treatment program for patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea using Oral Appliance Therapy. My
interest in this modality lead to a
unique opportunity at Emory as the only dentist on an interdisciplinary team dedicated
to the treatment of sleep disordered breathing. I became involved in a number of
research collaborations which have helped to advance the field of dental sleep medicine.
My career is dedicated to patient care, educating dentists about sleep medicine
and learning through collaborative clinical research.
At the Fusion Sleep Center,
I work on a team with other Board Certified Sleep Specialists
to provide the most technologically advanced dental solutions for patients with
sleep disordered breathing. As the Director of the Dental Sleep Medicine Program,
I work together with our physicians and research team members to deliver unique
therapeutic options available only at Fusion Sleep.
