Yes. Type II Diabetes and insulin resistance can be caused or worsened by Sleep-Disordered Breathing (SDB). In fact, the severity of insulin resistance is directly related to the severity of SDB. Up to 65 percent of people with Type II Diabetes carry this additional health risk.

In general, it is thought that people with Sleep Apnea are three to four times more likely to develop Type II Diabetes than people without apnea.
